Survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jane (Christoff) Wargo; daughter, Ann "Ancha" (Joseph) Best; grandchildren, Jessica and Gregory Best; nieces and nephews, Carol (Thom) Hickey, Nicholas (Joann) Wargo, Sonya and Sandy Wargo, Peter (Valerie) Wargo, Michael Wargo and Donna Booth; several grand nieces and grand nephews. In 1943, Paul played for the Rochester Red Wings as a lefthanded pitcher and outfielder. Paul served in World War under General George S. Patton from 1944-45. While on tour in Europe with 65th Division, Paul played baseball with a variety of major league players also serving the war effort; which provided entertainment for the troops.
He continued his career with the Red Wings in 1946. At the completion of his baseball career, he was employed with the Bricklayer's Union NY until his retirement in 1982. Paul and his wife Jane are founding members of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church in Rochester, NY. STAFF WRITER No matter how alluring the thought of fishing in the retention pond along Route 531 in Ogden may be, the state Department of Transportation says don't park on the expressway. "Although we promote outdoor recreation, we have serious concerns for the safety of those who pull off the expressway to other motorists traveling on the expressway," acting director Robert Traver said in a statement. In response to concerns about people parking on the side of the 65-mph expressway in order to access the pond with their fishing poles and boats, the Department of Transportation has posted "Emergency Stopping Only" signs along the "No Trespassing" signs have also been installed near the water. "Stopping on an expressway should I be reserved for emergencies," Traver said in his statement. THE ASSOCIATED PRESS VERONA State liquor regulators approved a liquor license this week for a newly formed company to serve alcohol throughout most of the Oneida Indian Nation's Turning Stone Casino and Resort. The New York State Liquor Authority's board voted unanimously to issue a license to CD Food Beverage, a non-Indian spinoff of The Beeches Restaurant in nearby Rome. The Beeches is owned by the Destito family. Chris Destito, who died earlier this year, was the husband of state Assemblywoman RoAnn Destito.
CD Food Beverage was formed less than two weeks before Chris Destito died, and is owned by two of his brothers and a cousin. The authority had repeatedly denied a liquor license for the resort itself but had issued thousands of temporary permits to The Beeches to serve alcohol at its nightclub, lounges and upscale res- taurants. The license will eliminate the need for daily liquor permits, and casino guests will no longer have to be members of one of the casino's clubs to buy alcohol. The agreement also allows for collection of a bed tax and sales tax on food and drink sold at the resort. Approval came after nearly 40 people, most of them associated with businesses that regularly conduct business with the resort, endorsed the plan.

Wilke is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 6. Generic drug use: Use of generic drugs continued an upward trend last year, according to the two leading insurers that serve the Rochester region. Excellus BlueCross BlueShield said this week that use of generics increased nearly 2 percent from October 2008 to October 2009 in the 39 counties that the insurer serves, and that 69.5 percent of all prescriptions were filled with a generic. The switch to generics saved members in the Rochester area $31.1 million.
MVP Healthcare, which serves New York, Vermont and New Hampshire, reported a 2.2 percent increase in use of generics in 2009.
